Jeremiah 23:5 - House of David

Unlike many of the other genealogy claims, this one is actually a prophecy concerning the Messiah.

However, just like those others, you have the same problem, which is that, while being a Jew, Jesus didn't have a Jewish and human birth father, which meant that he was tribeless. And if you are not a member of the tribe of Judah, then you don't have any connection to any of the families of that tribe, meaning, the house of David from the tribe of Judah.

Many Christians ignore the need for emphasizing Judah's role here, but it is a vital one.

Now, in the previous post concerning the link to Jesse, I brought up the problem with his lineage being a tainted one, unfit to produce kings for even 10 generations, as the Torah says.

That problem would also fall upon David.

But then, David also had a forbidden relationship with another man's wife. And while there is a view that nobody can prosecute a king, and so neither he nor the woman will be executed, it doesn't mean that the woman is ever permitted to him. And do, even though God killed Bathsheba's first child from David, any future children would also be a mamzer.

Meaning Solomon.

This would mean that while David was unfit for the throne, according to the Torah, because of Jesse, Solomon was also a mamzer and therefore unfit as well.

And because of that there's a lot of mental gymnastics involved in order to exonerate David and thus cleaning up the problem with Solomon (Ignoring that the taint from Jesse still applies).

So, anyway, Jesus was tribeless, and therefore not a descendent from anyone from the tribe of Judah, from that tainted lineage.

Style: messianic, inapplicable, not fulfilled by Jesus.
